Mayan Languages

The Mayan language family is primarily spoken in Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, and El Salvador, rather than in South America. However, there are some Mayan communities in South America, particularly in the Amazon region of Peru and Ecuador, where Mayan languages are spoken. Here is a list of some of the Mayan languages that are spoken in South America:

  1. K'iche': a Mayan language spoken in the highlands of Guatemala, as well as in parts of Mexico and Honduras. It is also spoken by some communities in the Amazon region of Ecuador.

  2. Tzotzil: a Mayan language spoken in the highlands of Chiapas, Mexico, as well as in parts of Guatemala. It is also spoken by some communities in the Amazon region of Ecuador.

  3. Tzeltal: a Mayan language spoken in the highlands of Chiapas, Mexico, as well as in parts of Guatemala. It is also spoken by some communities in the Amazon region of Ecuador.

  4. Ch'orti': a Mayan language spoken in parts of Guatemala and Honduras. It is also spoken by some communities in the Amazon region of Ecuador.
